Sony launches their first tablet computers - S1 and S2

“Sony launched its first tablet computers on Tuesday (April 26, 2011) in an ambitious attempt to grab the No.2 spot from Samsung in a fast-growing market dominated by Apple's year-old iPad” – Reuters
Sony unveiled its new products, two new tablet computers, yes! Not one, but two. They are really serious in entering this tablet war. Sony’s new tablets are code named as Sony S1 and S2 which by the way is the first tablets to enable the use of PlayStation games (as expected, they already did that to their Sony Ericsson Cellphone – Aino). With this, I won’t be shock if Microsoft will launch a tablet computer that enable user to use X-Box or maybe Apple should team up with Nintendo (Super Mario Bros. on IPad or IPhone? That would be cool, right?)
Sony’s new tablet runs on Adroid 3.0 Honeycomb, the latest Android O.S from Google which Samsung Galaxy Tab’s also has.

Sony S1 tablet

The S1 has a 9.4 inch display of unknown quality. It was described by Sony to have an “off center of gravity design that realizes stability and ease of grip, as well as sense of stability and lightness, offering comfortable use for hours”. Hmmm, interesting, I wish they named it first so people will know how to call it then next is describing it. S1 has two cameras and will make use of Sony’s Qriosity media services. It has the Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip) and a customized “Quick and Smooth” touch panel UI. All Android tablets have that, right?
The S2 on the other hand is a unique tablet (which I personally like). It has a clamshell design with two 5.4 inch display and when opened makes a larger display. The same with S1, it also have a Tegra 2 SoC, 2 cameras and a customize UI display. If you really wanna make use of Sony’s tablet computers capability for gaming, this is the best tablet for you. Since having a 2 display, you can use one screen for game controllers. You can also use it for text input btw.

Sony S2 tablet

Both S1 and S2 will be PlayStation certified and comes with support for DLNA media sharing to devices such as Sony’s Bravia line of tv sets.
Unfortunately this will be available on autumn of 2011. Which I think is not a good idea, I’m sure, by then, Apple or Samsung or other tablet competitors will already come up with a new set of tablets.
