I will be having my shot later.
What shot? Flu Vaccine actually, since I don’t have the right to get sick and I don’t want to get sick also might as well have it. The office will be having a not really free but cheaper Flu Vaccine for all of the employees plus their dependents today (May 7, 2011). Its part of their health project this month, recently they held a session where they set up a machine that can identify your BMS and the actual age of your body, my bad, I have a meeting that day and I wasn’t able to attend that session. I would have wanted to know the actual age of my body. I actually didn’t know that your body’s age might not be equal to your actual age. Interesting and find it weird. The office offers the Flu Vaccine for P400, half cheaper than outside where the price ranges from P800 – P1200. So might as well take this opportunity to be vaccinated for a much cheaper price. Besides, it will be deducted on my medical allowance so basically I’m not paying anything since it’s hard to dispose or use that medical allowance.
What is flu? It’s a viral infection that is spread from person to person in secretions of the nose and lungs, common example is through sneezing. It is medically known as influenza. Flu is a respiratory infection that is, an infection that develops primarily in the lungs. Influenza causes high fever, severe body aches than other respiratory infections. The very known influenza virus is the A(H1N1) also known as “Swine Flu” that contagiously spread through out the world last 2009. It became pandemic. “Swine Flu” is commonly found in pigs but this type of virus the A(H1N1) is actually quite different from that.
So what is Flu Vaccine? Much known as Influenza Vaccine aka Flu Shot is an annual vaccine to protect against the influenza virus. Each seasonal influenza vaccine contains 3 influenza viruses; A(H3N2), a regular seasonal A(H1N1) and B virus.
It is said that “Influenza vaccination is the most effective method for preventing virus infection and its potential sever complications”.
Why vaccinate for the flu? Flu is highly infectious and is a serious viral respiratory infection. The infection stresses the body. Bacterial respiratory infections also are a serious type of infection, and the simultaneous viral and bacterial infection can overwhelm the function of the lungs and the body. Among the elderly and the very young, it can cause death. Because of its infectiousness, morbidity (severity of symptoms and time lost from work or school), and the potential for death, it is important to prevent the flu by vaccination.
So get vaccinated! By protecting yourself you’re also protecting your family. Prevention is a cure. Get vaccinated NOW!
