Eeew Putik! Lets get down and dirty!
For my forth run, Merrell Adventure Run 2012 with the first typhoon of 2012 in the Philippines ("Ambo").
Even before we register, we're already expecting it to be muddy and slippery, but because of Ambo, it's muddier and there's really no way to avoid slipping from the wet terrain.
June 2, 2012 - 2AM the rain has stopped but the storm has not yet passed. 3AM when cath and i left her house to meet our running friends at Cubao Expo. At 4AM we left Cubao, bound to Timberland Heights at San Mateo Rizal, the venue of the event.
Foggy but hot i am excited to this run. "Maarte ako", that i know, I'm maybe like that but that doesn't mean I'm not into adventure. In fact, i love this kind of sports, the "agaw buhay" kind of sports or extreme adventure (if you're my friend you know this).
Life is too short for us not to try the extreme. We will appreciate life more if we experience the difficulties.
5:30AM, it started with rough road, muddy as expected, uphill and rocky. It's slippery than i thought. There's really no way to avoid slipping. As much as i try, i just keep on slipping. The early rain made the route more muddy and slipper. I slipped 3 times during the run.
You have to cross a river (muddy river) with fast flowing current, but there are ropes and marshals that stating at you i mean assisting the runners. And then goes an approximate 70 degree uphill slope with a rope you have to climb to and a mud pit that made me look like a pig.
Of all the run i joined, this is the best so far. just what i want. not the ordinary fun run. this is the FUN run I'm looking for.
10k was not easy breezy but its definitely worth the energy.
till my next Merrel Adventure Run > > > looking forward for 2013.
